Why a log like this

The submitted training log is arranged by client and by month, which is not how the work happens. Here you record a session when it ends, and the log files it under a client, a month, a role and a number of hours. The progress page splits the total into hands-on and assisting hours within the rolling 3 year window, and shows what is about to fall out of it. Entries stay in your browser.

Where the hour figures come from

Two data files hold the requirements, one per credential, written from the Certification Council for Professional Dog Trainers' candidate handbooks and online training log instructions. For the trainer credential that means 300 hours in 3 years, at least 225 of them hands-on and no more than 75 assisting; the behaviour consultant credential asks for 300, with at least 225 individual and no more than 75 group. Each guide lists the documents it used, and the handbook governs where a paraphrase differs.

Bylines

Guides go out under the name Trainer Hours. They carry no individual byline, no certified trainer is named, and their structured data records the Trainer Hours organization as author. Each guide is dated by its last text change.

The same developer elsewhere

Lactation Ledger, Fieldwork Ledger, Sea Time Ledger and Reflectora are run by the same person, each for a different profession's hours or records. Being one of several sites makes this one no more authoritative on dog training hours.

What this site cannot do

It cannot decide whether you are eligible; the certifying body does, from what you submit. A log here is your own working record, not an official one: it carries no attestation, nobody at the council has seen it, and the council's own log is the submission. Your attestation signatures and client records remain the documents that matter.

It also offers no training or behaviour advice, only hours and addition. For the counting rules, read the hours requirement in plain words and the split between leading and assisting, or open the guide index.
